Beyond a story - I

Text: Genesis 7.1-7 

What do you think about the story of Noah’s ark? 

“Tell it to the marines” is a catchphrase that many people use it. This phrase express that a story is hard to believe, or that the story is not really true. Noah’s ark is a story that many people don’t understand, for many people just look like a conversation of fisherman, but the reality is that we can learn many things with this story. So let’s see some:

1) Don’t miss the boat.

We have one life and that is very short, but eternity isn’t! Remember that Jesus is inviting everyone to enter in the boat, and that is the best choice that we may ever make.

2) Remember that you are not alone in the boat.

That is a very important principle that many people ignore. In your work place, family, church or Island; you are in the same boat with others. My question is what are we doing to make this boat a better place? In any of this place, I just win when other people win as well!

3) Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.

We are not too bad to plan ahead in our personal lives; we pay our pension schemes, our health insurance and everything else that is necessary to guarantee a good future. What about our eternal future?

Are we investing the same amount of time, energy and savings to spend an eternity with God? Or we just prefer not to think about it?

4) Stay fit. When you’re 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

The bible says that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6.19). I am not here preaching a magazine pattern of beauty to anyone, or an unhealthy diet. But we have one life and one body, and the message can be deliver as long as the body is able to do so. So let’s keep that in mind!

5) Don’t listen to critics from people that are not with you; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

We can and should listen to constructive critics of people that are with us, or critics of people that are in position of authority over us. But don’t base your life or try to react at any cost to critics of people that do not are example or that are not in position of authority over you! You don’t need to be what others want you to be, but what God wants you to be! That is the best to your life.

6) Build your future on high ground.

Are you building your house (future) over the rock or over the sand? On Noah’s time many people where prospering and building their lives thinking that was it, that they were amazingly good and nothing would or could go wrong. But they were wrong, and they lost even their lives because of that.

And what about us? Are we listening the Lord and doing what He says, or building a nice life not paying attention when He asks us to move to a boat? The choice is ours, He invite us to go on board, but choose.

CONCLUSION:  Jesus doesn’t want you to miss the boat or anything else that He has for you. Your part is to accept Him and to be willing to have more of Him. Would you like to know and have more of God today?
